What Members Thought
Genji interested me in that it was not just set in but also written in a time that we know so little about. The customs, dress, explanations of courtly rituals, etc. were fascinating.
Other than than, its lots of tear-soaked sleeves, poetry, possession by malevolent spirits (and not in an exciting, poltergeist sort of way) and men wailing about women being frigid because "they traveled so far and she won't talk to me". Boo hoo.
