Add to that the trouble at her daughter's new school, plus and a kidnapped prized rooster named Puff Daddy, and, well, the forecast looks anything but sunny.

But even clouds have their silver linings. This one's got Levi, Sunshine's sexy, almost-old-flame, and a fiery-hot US Marshall. With temperatures rising everywhere she turns, Del Sol's normally cool-minded sheriff is finding herself knee-deep in drama and danger. Can Sunshine face the call of duty - and find the kidnapper who's terrorizing her beloved hometown - without falling head over high heels in love . . . or worse?

Review- I was really looking forward to this. Charley Davidson is one of my favourite series. I adore Charley. She's insanely wonderful and brilliant. But the real star of that series is Cookie. Jones created my second favourite literary character with Cookie. She's a great friend and she's funny as hell. So I was excited to finally get around to this. And it has many of the elements that made the Charley Davidson series charming; the kookiness, the humor, the strong females leads and a wonderful mother daughter relationship. So why only three stars? Because I found the Levi-Sunshine- Auri triangle frustrating. If everyone in the world can see the obvious but the main character, it's annoying. As were the constant references to Levi's magnetic pull for Sunshine. We get it, she likes him but can't have him. We don't need it said every single time she sees him. There was quite a bit of this in Charley but it maybe wasn't as annoying. Or maybe Cookie just makes everything better. Not sure. Anyway, this was enjoyable but I'll work around to book to rather than rush out to get it.

Rating - Three quirky town stars. ⭐⭐⭐

Great start to a new series. I love Darynda Jones. This reminded me so much of Charlie Davidson. There was even a few references to Charlie.

This was quirky and fun. I started listening to the audiobook, but was intrigued enough to switch to the ebook midway through. (Reading is faster than listening, and I was impatient to find out what was going on.) I liked the Gilmore Girls- like relationship between Sunshine and her daughter Auri. I liked her friendship with Quincy. I'm intrigued to learn more about Levi.
Not sure the comedy elements here blended that well with the rest of the story. The humor and quirkiness were sometim ...more
