First read in 2017. Reread 2025. Interesting start of a new world. Looking forward to more.

What is up with calaena? I mean don’t get me wrong - I liked the book - but there were so many instances where I felt like she didn’t deserve the title Adarlan’s assassin! If you’re looking for entertainment in fantasy this is a light-hearted read. Not dense or serious plot, but it’s a fun romp with pretty dresses, murder, and forbidden magic.

Interesting premise for a novel so I was really excited for it but unfortunately not a lot happened. Probably won’t continue on to the next book in the series.
