Boy was this a long book! Didn't realise how long it was until I finished it as I had somehow turned off my chapter/book time length on my Kindle! I'm not complaining too much as it was a good book, but just wasn't expecting it to be that long!

Willow is a 17 year old psychic schoolgirl, who can see people's possible futures when she touches them. She also gets weird feelings around people which may or may not prompt her into doing something about them. She gives a reading to one of the popular Boy was this a long book! Willow is a 17 year old psychic schoolgirl, who can see people's possible futures when she touches them. She gives a reading to one of the popular girls in school, who promptly drops out of high school and goes to join the Church of Angels - a new, hugely widespread cult that believes that angels are here on Earth and will save us all! This cult definitely has the feel of brainwashing its followers to it.

Alex is an Angel Killer and is sent on a mission to kill Willow, but when he reads her aura, he knows there's something not quite right about this one. She's not an angel living amongst the humans, but she's not totally human either. He feels torn about what to do as she's so close to his age, so he just follows her around, keeping a close eye on here in case she feeds like the other angels. She doesn't!

When Willow goes to the Church of Angels to try and get Beth back, all hell breaks loose and it's Alex that saves her. Both of their lives change and they spend the rest of the book on the run, trying to work out who is on their side and who are angel followers. The CIA initiative that Alex was working for has been compromised and he's not sure who to trust anymore either.

When 2 CIA agents get in touch, they inform Willow that she has to save the world from more angels coming down to Earth and Willow has the hard decision to make - save the Earth or stay with Alex. The CIA certainly don't expect her to live through what she needs to do, but she does it anyway.

Willow and Alex do start to develop feelings for each other - she knows how hot he is from the minute she set eyes on him and he finds her to be one of the most beautiful girls he has ever met, but their relationship was slow and steady, no rushing into things for this one.

I did enjoy this book even though it was a YA book, which I tend not to read. I really liked the idea of the angels being completely different to what we would expect - they are not your nice, shining, helpful angels at all. Will read the next one in the series at some point, but it's even longer than the first so might have to be during a long holiday! ...more

After a second go at reading this, I'm conceding defeat and giving up at the 67% mark. This book is so not for me.

Despite some cheesiness in the way the plot is handled, I think the basic premise of this book is very entertaining. I like it when authors turn angels into bad guys, and I love that the male lead was basically an angel-killing version of the hunters from Supernatural. The character Cully even reminded me of Uncle Bobby, for you Supernatural fans out there.

At first when i started reading this it was a very slow start and i found it very hard to get into. But as alex and willow get away from the church of angels i found myself getting further into it. Definitely a good read i you stick to it, and you really get into willows and alex's feelings towards each other. I commend weatherly's writing skills for writing such a well written book even when the characters are in a car or hotel for most of the book, but it this did make a good basis for evolvin ...more

Angels are typically the beautiful protectors in many stories but Ms. Weatherly gives us an unexpected reality where angels are the villains, feeding off of human's energy in order to survive. It was great to see that dark new world of angels as villains...they are pretty scary! An author definitely has my attention when they think out of the box when it comes to supernatural creatures and flawlessly deliver...and that's exactly what you'll find in Angel Burn.

Weatherly's characters are refreshingly genuine. Willow and Alex are great characters on their own and equally adorable when they're together! Willow is strong willed with a kind heart and I love how distinctive she is among typical protagonists. She has a good head on her shoulders for her age and is not a prissy teenage girl. Alex is the total package, he's smart, thoughtful and a protector...and it doesn't hurt that he's smokin' hot! He starts off a little rough around the edges but soon shows a softer side that will have you swooning. Their relationship grows as they bond on their "road trip," feeling natural and not rushed. What I absolutely love in this story is that despite their intense feelings, Willow and Alex resist giving into their desires and focus on staying alive...I don't know how they did it but applaud their willpower!

My only struggle through this book is the switching of first person narrative from Willow's point of view to third person narrative, the story becomes a little unbalanced with the constant transition of narratives. Yes, it's a little long but the story is so gripping you'll want to stay up all night to finish. This story has great character development, wickedly evil villains and a pure and innocent romance that will capture your heart, making this a must read for the young adult and paranormal romance fans alike. Angel Burn is without a doubt one of the best young adult novels I've read this year!
