Oh man. I cried on the subway. And then for an hour as I finished it once I got home. When I was a kid I would read books that made me cry. I would reread them mercilessly. Specifically, I remember Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume. When I was much younger I couldn't even make it through The Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter;* I was crying so hard my mom got worried. Loved the characters and the banter they totally make the book. Did not like the bitter sweetness of it all and that's just a personal preference. John Green does an amazing job of putting you in a cancer patient's shoes, but it is a bleak place to be. However, the characters do an awesome job of living in the now and for the little moments that make the life we have so great.
