3.5 stars
I didn’t love the manufactured suspense of the novel and how it felt like it was written for TV, but it wasn’t bad for a beach read type book. Some of the characters that seemed one-dimensional at the beginning ended up being much more interesting and/or likable as I went along. It was also fun reading the book this year because one of my own kids is in kindergarten, and I could relate to some of the school-related scenes personally (i.e. almost losing the kindergarten stuffed animal).

I am giving this four stars for the type of book it is--this author is the Maeve Binchy or the Rosamund Pilcher of Australia-- Comfortable, interesting, sometimes funny, relaxing. A good read for no reason but to escape. I am going to read more of her! This was as good as The Husband's Secret.

Wow. This book was a tough one to read a month before my son goes into kindergarten honestly.... but it was brilliant. It was funny, light, heavy, shallow, and deep at different points. I couldn’t put it down.
