ah bless. i love 1001 nights retellings but they all have to reckon with the central problem of shahrayar, namely that he is an evil evil dude and shahrazad is a hero who deserves better then to be stuck with him at the end of at all. luckily this book agrees with me! it is a fun set of weird feminist folktales told in the 1001 nights framework. would recommend

The importance of sisters, stories, and storytelling. Beautifully illustrated with charming asides.
