My feelings about this book have evolved as I’ve read it. I began the book and immediately dismissed it. It's not that I didn't like the book. It's that I didn't find it funny like others who just couldn't put it down. I don't know if it's because I couldn't connect to Jenny or if it just was not my type of humor. Absolutely hilarious. Absolutely recommend.

Let's pretend this book never happened, amirite? Jk jk jk that's unkind. Unfortunately, if your book proclaims a half dozen times that it's the funniest memoir EVER, it had better be pretty great. Or at least really decent. Next David Sedaris? I think not. Caveat: I stopped reading after 30 pages, so maybe things really picked up after that.

Look, I'm not trying to claim this book is quality literature. But I laughed out loud (and loudly) enough times that I'm giving it a five. If you're having a bad day/week/month, this is the perfect book to change things for you.

I'm enjoying this on a superficial level but not enough to want to power through to the end. Lawson's writing is probably best in short burst on a blog. In collected form I'm struck by an overall glibness to her tone, particularly in places where I want more insight, more reflection.
