I've read this twice and I would read it again. This is the most incredible non-fiction book I've ever read. The author follows the lives of two girls from the ghetto in the Bronx for a decade. This was a real eye-opener for me as far as how these women and others like them live on a day to day basis. I had no idea. I highly recommend this book for anyone going into education or social work or for anyone who did NOT grow up like these women. ...more
