I cannot remove my personal bias from how intimately this book speaks to me. Laugh-out-loud hilarious and damn smart, I just wish the print was smaller and there were about five hundred more pages. If this had been the same density as Morrissey's Autobiography (the most unintentionally hilarious emo story Charles Dickens never wrote), that would have been perfect. But I'm going to give it five stars anyway. Lindy West: goddamn national treasure.

I don’t want to say Lindy West is brave, because that smacks of condescension, that she has something to overcome, some lack. Instead, I want to call her defiant, because she’s heard the absolute worst of humanity’s bile directed at her simply for being a woman, for being fat, for being outspoken and still comes back to listen and dialogue and contribute to all the public discussions we’re having. Spoke to my younger self and to me now. I have to wonder why (philosophically) Lindy West has had to spend so much of her life arguing why rape isn't funny. Why would anyone man, woman, comedian or sourpuss think rape jokes are funny?

3.5 I liked the last half of this better than the first. I felt like
