I picked up this book because Emma Watson suggested it, and because it seemed like an Important Book. I was expecting political essays, and I was expecting to have to exercise some self-discipline in order to get through it.

Instead, I could barely put it down and found myself crying (both happy and sad tears) and laughing, and only some of that was because I was overtired.

This is a collection of anecdotes and thoughts about things that have happened to Gloria Steinem in her long life of travel

I really loved this book especially her stories about other women organizers she has met over the years. She starts with her childhood of traveling with her restless father. I identified with her struggle between the need to travel and see the world and meet new people versus being jealous of others who are able to settle down and have a home. Mostly I love how she includes stories and people that have clearly influenced her, showing how the advocate was created. She is open about the injustices ...more
