Undoubtedly it takes extraordinary courage and eloquence to write a book like this one. Details of genital mutilation were gruesome to say the least, but I wonder if it is as common in the Islamic world as the author would have us believe. I mostly agree with the feudal mindset argument or the free speech argument but sweeping generalizations about the West's many qualities and Western values also abounded in the book.
