Realistically 3.75

I really enjoyed a story that had a woman POC as a protagonist reflecting and building survival instincts in a world that is going mayhem. It had a Hunger Games feel to it at some parts of it, but had more rawness to the story. Don't know what the genre is, but it didn't feel too futuristic/dystopian for me. Might be the times of our lives now.

I am intrigued about reading the next book.

Despite this being science fiction (debatable, in my opinion), and dystopian with climate change accents (right in my wheelhouse), I wasn’t overly impressed. It’s a good story, for the most part, and while it certainly hasn’t happened, therefore fiction, it has a rather violent ring of truth to it, unfortunately. But aside from the main character, it’s hard to find someone to root for. None of the other characters seem interested in the goal, they continue simply to strive for an unknown. It is ...more
