Another great read by Adichie. The contrasting lives of Kambili and her brother Jaja at her parents home and at her aunt's is fascinating and at times heart-wrenching. She does a powerful job of describing Kambili's love/hate/fear of her father and her burgeoning independence.

Adichie is a such great writer -- this story just flowed and it was quite easy to fall into it. It was by turns painful, tender, hopeful, and infuriating. Kambili's voice was so innocent, young, and fearful for most of the book, and it was so interesting to watch her grow, despite the painful reasons for her growth.

It's a very very sad story. I like it. Lots of stuff that happens don't make sense to me, but that just shows how involved I was when I was reading it. Should read Half of the Yellow Sun soon!
