Jeanette Walls does a wonderful job of describing her life growing up as the daughter of two incredibly dysfunctional and unstable people who nonetheless tried their hardest to be good parents (unfortunately their hardest was pretty pathetic and neglectful, but she still appreciates them for who they were). Her narrative begins with her perspective as a child of living with her fun and adventurous parents. As the memoir progresses, the tone matures and she eventually begins to realize that every ...more
