(3.0) Entertaining for Seattlites, but affected construction
All enjoyable and pretty true to Seattle except for “the UW” (including in speech) and a few lesser sins. But the big problem is that all these emails and faxes are just pure narrative that no one would write as emails or faxes. Ok, she wanted to switch points of view frequently and quickly, but it was all just narrative. Plot was rollicking improbable fun, so much redemption there.

Didn't love it but didn't hate it. The characters are all equal parts annoying and intriguing; I was equally enraged by their actions and decisions and also, saying...well, yeah, I could see why they did that given the highly unlikely and whacky scenarios they were in.
I loved Bernadette's insights about mom life, Seattle, and Microsoft. They were accurate and hilarious.
I did feel that Bee came across less like 15 and more like...12. This annoyed me the most. ...more

Comedy through absurdness. I did not like the epistolary format - a lot of information is conveyed in documents that normally would not divulge that much detail and that took away some verisimilitude. I was not particularly drawn to Bernadette either, but Bee's sections as a narrator were enjoyable. Some laugh-out-loud moments every now and then (ahem, the blackberry bushes!).
