So many of you out there have mentioned this book to me and it all those things you said -- biting, funny, touching, fun to read.
So, so, so good. Literally laughed out loud multiple times.
Semple affectionally pokes fun at architecture, Seattle, independent schools and helicopter moms in this romp. From the first sentence, the mission statement of the fictional Galer Street School with its reference to connectitude, the reader can relax in the knowledge that she knows what's she's talking about.

Loved it!!
I loved this book. Sure, it's light and creative and clever, and it probably didn't hurt that it's about things I am predisposed to enjoy reading about (Computers! The Beatles! Antarctica! The Pacific Northwest!)... but I also thought it really wonderfully and thoughtfully conveyed how imperfectly we humans understand each other, often. It made me want to be a more understanding, less judgmental person. Also it was hilarious.
