I love hated this book. I can't stop thinking about it. I was pulled into it right away, resentful at feeling somehow manipulated into liking it so fast. Everything is all ultra-Seattle, which I guess is meant to be part of the satire, and it's rad. The commentary on Seattle parenting is what I was hoping for when I read POSER, and reading this reaffirmed my desire to avoid private schools and affluent neighborhood schools. I honestly don't get the hype on this one. Interesting structure, but I didn't laugh once. Maybe a snicker or two, but it just wasn't my sense of humor. Overall, a little too clever for it's own good with a few decent moments. Pretty forgettable.

One of the things I learned reading this book is that though it's nice to know that I CAN still stay up 'til 4 in the morning finishing a book, it might not be the best decision.
As far as a quick, fun read with an interesting plot and a totally creative way to tell a story, this ticked every box. Though I hadn't planned on it, I read it in one day. ...more
