I read this book in one day and that meant reading late into the night. I had big lumps in my throat all along but when the ending came up, I was unable to hold back the flood.

I loved this book. I had to stop myself from sobbing at the end when I finished this on an airplane. The characterization of the two sisters and the different ways they chose to make choiceless choices in occupied France during World War II was so engrossing. I cared about the characters and really felt for them. I also learned quite a bit about the women left behind during the war in France and what they had to do to survive and help when and where they could. Highly recommended.

It was ok, but I did not love it. Idon't know what the hype was all about really. Her language is too descriptive and it really grates on my ears. Her characters are not that believable and there are serious plot holes. I read on simply for plot development but probably will not go back to her work for a while.
