It's hard for me to rate this book.....this is a genre (thriller/mystery) that I don't typically read and I try to rate books according to their genre I guess. You know 5 stars for Goodnight Moon is different than a 5 stars for Catcher in the Rye or 5 stars for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I have to give this book one thing. I knew little about the book going in. I only knew there was a troubled marriage and a disappearance. That's it. So I was riveted to this book from the first few minutes. Literally, every page revealed a clue to be explained later and you can't stop reading because you can't wait to find out what something means AND THEN, halfway through the book, you are sideswiped, completely thrown, and continue on the suspenseful journey.

I listened on audiobook and I think that affected my enjoyment of the book somewhat--they had a male and female reader for the different parts of the book, but they didn't really "sell" the personalities of either narrator, and their personalities were so crucial to the whole arc of the book. Still enjoying and compelling, though, despite an irritating overuse of the word "literally." A real "page turner" or more precisely "pretty darn good book to listen to while undertaking an unexpectedly int
