This was my first Kristin Hannah novel, and it certainly won’t be the last. Kristin's writing is descriptive and beautiful, and you really feel all of the emotions of her characters firsthand. I loved the two viewpoints of Vianne and Isabelle as they navigated the perils of war. I feel like if I was alive during the war, I probably would have taken the same position as Vianne which was to keep your head down, make yourself as small as possible and to not make waves.
