Zafon's writing style is lyrical and his characters and imagery really grabbed me. An absolutely beautiful book.

I really enjoyed this book for the most part, and understand why several people I know say it is their favorite book. It got off to a slow start for me, and I was not that vested in the unrequited love that Daniel has for older woman, Clara. What drew me into the book was the visit to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, and Daniel's fascination with Julian Carax. As he learned more and more about the author and his mysterious life, you just become immersed in the story and Barcelona at that time. I

I've had "The Shadow of the Wind" on my to-read list for quite awhile and I can't believe that it took me so long to read it. I thoroughly loved this book! Can't wait to read his other books.
