Meh.
This was a Forever YA book club pick, and that's why I read it. I had high hopes because of all the rave reviews, even though I'm not a fantasy / sci-fi fan. I should have known!
Basically, there was SO much worldbuilding, too many characters, and too many weird names and terms for me to keep it all straight. I was constantly having to look things up to stay on track, and I don't like my reading to feel like homework.

This was such an awesome book with a twist that I didn't expect. I can't wait for the next book in this series to come out and I have high hopes that it will be just as good. One of my new favorite dystopian fiction novels!

A fast-paced, dark and gritty dystopian fiction. Very cinematic in places. I loved it! The only bad thing is it's the first book in a trilogy and now I have to wait until next year to read more of Darrow's story.
