It is my privilege to volunteer a few times a month at my niece's school library. For the past few years, the two of us have picked out a few books that we buy for the library. The Librarian requested this picture book, and I'm glad she did, because I read it before I brought it in! I feared that the story might be dull, based on the description, but it's really charming, with photographs of the real Winnie, Christopher Robin and the man who raised Winnie at the end. It astounds me that there was a time when a soldier could bring a bear to live in his barracks. That's aside from this being a very, very lovely story about the origin of Winnie the Pooh. Also, why did they let Christopher Robin into the cage without his dad? It's clear that Winnie stayed domesticated after he got to the zoo, but still, I'd be in there with *my* kid...
