Would have only given this 4 stars if I hadn't listened to the hilarious audio book version. Amy Poehler is absolutely hilarious and was so entertaining to listen to. I loved the chapter by Seth Meyers and hearing him read his chapter and I loved hearing secrets about SNL and Parks and Rec. Her chapter about memories of cast members was so cute! I was also surprised by how deep this actually got and how well Amy dealt with tough subjects like divorce, depression, anxiety, and just the trials of ...more

I liked this audio very much. Amy Poehler is a focused and ambitious woman who calls us all to pursue what we want and feel great about it. I'm kinda fascinated with what it must be like to work on SNL and so I loved these parts of the book. She also has a lot of funny things to say about Divorce that I could really relate too. Amy and Tina Fey are best friends. I must admit I liked Tina Fey's book a little better. Tina seems a little more real and I get the feeling she likes motherhood/ marriag ...more

I had looked forward to the publication of this book, and was disappointed. When I read Tina Fey's "Bosspants" I literally was slapping my chair I was laughing so hard. There was no laughing that hard when I read "Yes Please" and frequently, I was wondering why Poehler chose to include portions she did. For instance, her drug use. TMI Amy - I don't want or need to know. The prologue tells us "how hard it is to write a book" and maybe the clue should have been, if it's this hard, it's not good. I ...more

Definitely listen to the audiobook! This memoir is funny, sincere, and told in Amy's brand of humor. I loved hearing stories from her childhood, her years on SNL, motherhood, and especially her memories of working on Parks & Rec with her beloved castmates. I hope she writes a second volume towards the end of her career to add in all of the work she's done/will do since this was published in 2014. ...more

Equal parts funny, ridiculous, and insightful. My favorite parts (as they usually are when reading about comedians) were the stories of the paths they traveled to get where they are (in particular I love SNL behind-the-scenes stories) and who they worked with along the way.
