I gotta admit, the plot doesn't move forward a whole lot in this first arc, but I am intrigued enough to keep reading, ESPECIALLY if Chiang keeps drawing! I can't get enough of his artwork. And the colors, mmmm...tasty. I kinda wish BKV had held his potty mouth in check, because this would have been a great book to recommend to upper elementary kids and junior-highers at my library. Unfortunately, the f-bombs relegate it to high school only. Too bad. ...more

I actually picked this up for a young reader in my life. This person adores the show Stranger Things and is starting to get into comics, so I thought: "What?! A comic by Brian K. Vaughn (his "Y:The Last Man" is my FAVORITE!) about 12 year-old girls, set in the 1980's, with supernatural elements? Could anything be more perfect?" Uh, well ... turns out it can. Pretty good story, but very similar to Stranger Things. I didn't plan on reading any more as graphic novels aren't really my favorite, but with that cliffhanger at the end...
