The writing is all over the place and it's easy to lose track of where Fisher is going with a particular theme. That's probably part of the the point, but it's the sort of thing that comes off more successfully as a performance rather than book- apparently the book is based on a stand-up routine. Still, Fisher is funny and sweet, so it's an entertaining and quick read that's finished by the time you've really started to get annoyed with her style. 2 1/2 stars.

part memoir, part revelation, part juicy gossip. Enjoyed reading about Carrie's life.

I really enjoyed this. It was short and sweet. (3 hours) several parts were laugh out loud funny and others were kind of sad and sobering. Carrie Fisher tells the story of growing up with Hollywood parents, A little bit about being a princess Leia on the cast of Star Wars and a little bit about her drug use and bipolar illness. I enjoyed hearing carrie’s voice and emotion as she read.

Hilarious and heartbreaking
Written when she was fifty two, this book contains Carrie Fisher's witty and sometimes scathing observations on the major events of her life: growing up with celebrity parents, Star Wars, her relationship with Paul Simon, and her struggles with drug use and bipolar illness. Her tone is conversational and engaging. I feel she had so much more to say, and she left us way too soon. ...more
