I think I may appreciate this book even more on a second reading. We just finished it for one of my book clubs. I remember going to a Teen Book Fest years ago and hearing Ellen Wittlinger speak about if her books had any theme in common, it was simply: "Art will save you." Along with that, it seems to me, is what the consequences are when creators don't create. That's covered in this book. This is a very quirky, unusual book about life of the uber rich in Seattle. It also is about how mental illness can define a family, and children will love you, no matter what. I enjoyed it, laughed out loud at some points, was very puzzled by others, and overall enjoyed the way the story was pieced together by various methods of communications - e-mails, texts, conversations, etc.
