What a perfect book! The illustrations are brilliant. They're bright and solid. Every expression that he feels is completely conveyed in the illustrations: from love to sorrow, anger to embarrassment. You know how he feels.

I was expecting a much more straightforward memoir-style story and so was pleasantly surprised to be off kilter as it starts out with three seemingly dissonant narratives that [spoiler] eventually get woven together, and in interesting ways. The art is bright and fun and Yang alters his style slightly but effectively for each of the narratives.
