I reread this book after it just won the Newbery Medal this morning. It's a beautiful book (in both the words and illustrations) that shows diversity and understanding others without being preachy. It shows that there is beauty in even the little things and that everyone has something to offer the world. My favorite part is when Nana says that she feels sorry for the other boys (of whom CJ is jealous) because "They'll never get a chance to meet Bobo or the Sunglass Man." This is a perfect book. The art totally reminded me of Ezra Jack Keats, whom I LOVED is a kid. I would read Snowy Day every night.

I love how Matt gets you to think about things in a different way. I'm tempted to take a bus ride with my kiddos now. My sisters and I would often take the bus with our Grandmother. It was a fun adventure. My kids love to whine and say "I don't have anything to do." when they're in the car. I can't wait to read this with them and show them to open their eyes and take
