This was an interesting story of 11-year-old Julia growing up in a world where the earth's rotation is slowing daily, changing the length of days, and changing the way life is lived on earth. There was an interesting combination of concern about the life-changing catastrophe interspersed with the ordinary concerns of growing up: soccer practice, boyfriends, school, & parents.

A year in the life of a teenager with all the usual sorts of problems -- falling out with friends, newfound interest in boys, unsettled family life and neighborhood drama, all complicated by the unexplained slowing of the earth's rotation.
A fast read. The science fiction aspects were neatly done, and balanced nicely with the human side of the story. ...more

I liked it, and was intrigued with the premise of the earth's rotation slowing, and the impact it would have. I was not thrilled with the main character, and was disappointed in the ending, and how she seemed to lose everyone she loved, and mostly how passive she was about it! Just not that magical for me.
