Holy wyrd. There are no words. I had trepidation going into the story but oh my god. Definitely one of the best books I've read this year; so much action so it was never boring. I could rant endlessly about all the epic that is this series but I'll just say that I screamed, I laughed, I cried, I closed the book in anger before immediately picking it up and finishing it. Last night, after finishing this book... I could not sleep.
What troubled me?
Well, I was tortured by what the hell happened. By where Aelin has gone to.
This book was basically the prep work for the next one. Normally that stuff pisses me off, but I gave it 5 stars because I love these books and I was still very much entertained and in the story.

Characters.
Most of our usuals were here.

This book has ~~kind of~~ completely ruined me.

After reading all of the Throne of Glass books, there was no way I couldn't continue on Celaena's journey to freedom, I pre-ordered my 700 page book, avoided tumblr and sat next to my mail box in anticipation.

The book was intriguing from the get go, and the reader knew as much about what was going on as the characters. Maas has risen to a new level of amazing, crafting the characters feelings, reactions and emotions ...more

one word: oh
I would have given this book five stars if it hadn't taken me 6 months to finished because I simply dragged it on and on. every 50 pages seemed to have someone slamming someone into the wall, bed or whatever in some lust filled frenzy. and how descriptive it was too! that ending, really hope we will see aelin again. that's all I ask for in the next book.

I am a huge Throne of Glass fan! When I read this book and approached the end it almost broke me. So I reread the whole first part and then finally let the ending truly sink in.

Everything I wanted for the characters and the plot unfolded. Then in the final chapters, the dreaded conclusion left me reeling for the next book. If you love this series, you live in fear of a character's death, torture of just imminent disaster. Enough complaining - let's get to it.

This is my current order of favourite to least favourite books in the series:
1. Throne of Glass and The Assassin's Blade
2. Queen of Shadows
3. Crown of Midnight
4. Empire of Storms
5. Heir of Fire

Little did I know how much I would love this series, or even anticipate its plot direction, 2 years ago when I first picked up the Assassin's Blade. I rose high on the hopes and fell through all the devastation that the characters felt in this book. The series is tying together so phenomenally well I can't begin to imagine how Maas planned it all out. The characters grow evermore and the battles become bigger, the stakes higher every time a new book is added to this series. That Ending!!!!! My Heart... I can't Even... Ughhh

I've read the previous books in the series in a week so i can read this, and now that I've done that
I don't know what to do with my life anymore..

And to think that there's only one book left in this series is just devastating, heartbreaking.
And we have to wait a full freaking YEAR!!

There are no words to describe how utterly mind-blowing this book was. Since reading A Court of Mist and Fury, I've been waiting for another book to top it. After reading Empire of Storms, I can easily say that this book blew ACOMAF out of the water. While ACOMAF definitely dominated in the romance category, EOS prevailed in the action category. I love both books, but when it comes down to choosing a better book, EOS definitely wins (May contain spoilers, depending on your definition of spoilers)

After reading Empire of Storms, I can easily say that this book blew ACOMAF out of the water. While ACOMAF definitely dominated in the romance category, EOS prevailed in the action category. I love both books, but when it comes down to choosing a better book, EOS definitely wins.

Gosh, its so hard to talk about this book without any spoilers. I'll start with the plot. There were so many twists and turns I never could guess what would happen. I was kept literally on the edge of my bed, anticipating Aelin's next scheme. The world-building in this book was phenomenal; SJM could not of done it better.

I also loved the introduction of new/old characters (if you've read the whole series, you'll understand). It really tied in the whole series and gave a clearer connection to Aelin's past, which I absolutely adored. Aelin is such a complex character, and us readers still don't know everything about her.

The other characters were just as exciting. I loved meeting more members of the cadre, especially Fenrys. He reminds me so much of Cassian for some reason. Lysandra was absolutely boss in this novel. Manon really stepped into her role in the series and she has become one of my all-time favorite literary characters. Dorian has become such a crucial part to the story. Aedion is not my favorite character, but I love how he'll contradict Aelin, knowing she could melt him in a split second. Still don't know what to think about Elide or Lorcan, but I still love them both. We all know what I think about Rowan (the best character of all time). The only thing I wished would change about this book is the inclusion of Chaol and Nesryn. I missed them so much while reading this. I'm sure SJM has her reasons though.

I won't go into detail about the end of this book, but I will say it will leave you speechless. I had to wait a couple hours before writing this review so I could process the ending.

All in all, this book is one of my favorites. I love Heir of Fire more, but that was a given This book definitely comes in close second. I cannot wait for the sixth book in this spectacular series. Thank you to SJM for writing such an awesome book series. Keep up the hard work! Can't wait to read the next book! ...more
