I was initially not interested in reading this because I have watched all of the TV show that has aired. But I was curious and thought I would try at least the first book. There has to be a reason why it is so talked about.
GRRM should be worshipped. This is epic! I can now see why it is so popular. Even though I had a bit of an idea what would happen because of the show, it was still very exciting. Battles, blood, bastards, beatings, betrayals - it is all there and that is just book #1! Don't le ...more

What a captive read! It has been many years since I read a book with such fervor. I never planned on reading the series in the first place. I'll be honest, I watched the show first. Picking up the books afterward felt as if I was breaking an unspoken bibliophile canon. Read the books first...Read the books first.... Resigned to my fate, I left the books alone and happily binged on the shows instead. It wasn't until, years later, I found the first four books at a yard sale going for a dollar. All

Last night I finished reading A Song of Ice and Fire. It was difficult to leave that world with all its' intrigue and hardships. This book is an excellent introduction to all the characters and families in the Game of Thrones. The relationships of the Starks, the Lannisters, and others are much more clear to me now. The characters have come to life for me and I can't wait to continue the saga in print.
