What Members Thought
Mr. Pelecanos keeps quite a few balls in the air in this one. Again, his attention to detail is extensive. You can visualize the matches, ashtrays, the entire scene. He is also very good at character motivation, revealing hopes and aspirations and fears in realistic prose.
I only made it to page 60 and decided, "Life's too short." It's not that this book is terrible -- and if I were in a different mood I might really like it. Maybe it was spoiled by my love of "The Wire" and wanted to find something as great. Sigh.
