Best way to read this book: Forget that Andy Weir wrote it.
I really enjoyed Artemis and I think part of the reason I did was because I didn't compare it to The Martian. I actually couldn't put this book down! The science behind the way the city was constructed and the politics behind every aspect was riveting and I hadn't read anything like it. A city on the moon? Sweet!
A couple shortfalls: Jazz is reeeeally hard to like. She is greedy, self-centered, and doesn't know how to have true friendship ...more

Well, I liked The Martian better. At the risk of sounding sexist, he should stick to writing from a man's perspective. Some writers can write from either/any gender, some can't. Jazz is way too ramped up anti-woman for me to connect with her. The plot was really jumpy and had a ton of moving parts and not what I was expecting (or wanting) from the author after The Martian.
