I was a bit disappointed to find these were just short stories set loosely around Chestnut St, there're no real links between them although a couple of characters appear twice. Mostly they were OK, there was the occasional bite & the occasional syrup, but I didn't feel engaged by any of them. I wouldn't have bought the book if I'd realised, but I was reasonably entertained. ...more

Although I prefer Ms. Binchy's novels, this collection of stories is quite nice. Such a gift for creating real characters and telling their stories, their struggles and triumphs, loves and losses. ...more

Though not a fan of the short story genre, this final book by Maeve Binchy, read in the beautiful lilt of Sile Bermingham was an enjoyable listening experience. Maeve treats her characters with kindness and by doing so, reminds us all of our humanity.
