I would have to say this is one of the better books I've read recently. I absolutely loved it! It has a lot of detail and a lot of historical facts in it, but I think that's what made it so great. I loved the style of her writing, and really enjoyed the characters. I was especially intrigued by Kostova's explanation of the characters' travels. I wanted to like this book but I didn't. I listened to this on audiobook which is over 25 hours long - it took me over a month to finish. I thought it would be perfect for October due to the Dracula premise. It was okay to listen to on dark, cool evenings on my commute home from work, but there was too much minutia which didn't hold my attention and I kept getting lost. This is a tough book for me to rate. There were times when it was a solid 4, and times when it was a 2. I decided to average them out. I loved it for the first 400 pages or so, but when the entire book became a series of letters and drab history, I became very bored. It livened up again toward the end, and overall I did enjoy it. loved this book!!! for all those people who bad mouthed it i think i almost ran from this before taking the time to read it. .. but its on my top 10 of the year.
