Ji Lin is a young Malaysian woman apprenticed to a dressmaker and moonlighting as a dance hall hostess/instructor. She sort of accidentally comes into possession of a severed finger after dancing with a salesman. Ren is an 11-year-old houseboy hoping to fulfill his master's dying wish to get his (the master's) long-lost finger retrieved within 49 days of death so the master can be buried whole and not haunt Malaysia as a creepy spirit.

Interesting setting and characters. Other than the weird dream sequences, I liked this one quite a bit.
I wanted this to be a new favorite but I just couldn’t get into it. I DNF’d half way through.
