Too many ideas, it's impossible to recognize the world of the end of the series from where it began. It's the book version of that game where you go around a circle taking turns making up a story. And then tied up at the end in a rushed and silly way. Disappointing end to an interesting beginning.

All the stuff I said for "Hollow City" pretty much holds true for this volume, too. The main distinction with this one is that it felt like the "darkest" of all three Peculiar Children stories. It's like someone just whispered to Riggs that these books are marketed to young adults and that he CAN be a little more edgy if he wants to be. These are still just average reads, but there are some sort of neat descriptions and moments of worldbuilding.
