I thought I would really like this book - I've read a couple of others of Susan Meissner's, I thought the subject matter was very topical (but I live in Australia where COVID isn't raging, so it's not as though it would be hitting a nerve), but I just didn't seem to be able to really get into it and I took a month to finish it!

A beautiful story about loss and family that takes place in the early 20th century. A family of five moves from rural Pennsylvania to Philadelphia so that the patriarch can work in his bachelor uncle's undertaken business. A series of tragedies pushes them apart and pulls them together. The story is told by various members of the family, not all of which seemed believable to me, and one particular storyline was based on so many coincidences as to not be credible. I enjoyed the insight into the flu pandemic, but a little too sentimental to me especially with wrapping everything up in a neat bow.
