This is a must read. It takes place in Philly during the time of the Spanish flu epidemic in 1918. You will fall in love with the Bright family and their story.
The first half of this novel, detailing the events of a family affected by the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918, was compelling enough; I didn't really feel connected with the characters and the structure felt like a rip-off of Poisonwood Bible but at least the plot was intriguing. I did enjoy learning about this time in history as well as the history of embalming (the family lives in a funeral home).
