Well, this was charming, wasn't it? I was very leery, because of my hatred of nearly all things Victorian (I KNOW, I'M A CRETIN), but it turns out the best way to enjoy the Victorian era is with time travelers who are also rolling their eyes at it. This was funny and nicely plotty and had entertaining bits about animals and non-mushy backburner romance. This was a pretty good book. I knew absolutely nothing about it when I first started reading, so at first I thought it was a bit odd, and almost gave up on it. Then I realized there was time-travel going on. Then it got interesting. Overall a very well thought out, complicated story. I really enjoyed it and I will be checking out more books by Connie Willis.
