Actually had to read the book description again to remember what happened in this book.
One thing I like about Maas’ books in general: she often has relatively strong female protagonists. While it isn’t quite a feminist message, in my opinion, it’s better than a lot of the crap out there telling girls the only things they are good for is looking pretty, being charming and then being saved by a knight in shining armour. DNFing at about half way through. Most reviewers say that this is better than the first book. I didn't think so since I couldn't even bring myself to finish this one. Sarah J. Maas' writing just sucks, especially when it comes to describing something - be it a building or a person. She is just not good
