This was a lot of fun. Great story and art, witty conversations. Superpowers aside, Kamala is a real teenager with real problems. She is a Muslim girl growing up in New Jersey, butting heads with her parents, trying to figure out how to balance loyalty to her parents and her heritage with wanting to be true to herself. I loved it.
What a kick - a Pakistani-American teenager is the new Ms Marvel! Great drawings, and all sorts of family/school/friend issues are handled well. It's exciting, too!

I'm not really into superhero comics but I really enjoyed this!
I love that we get a Pakistani American Muslim heroine! I really like that we get to see dealing not only with her new powers but also her heritage and how to bring those two together. It makes her seem way more real to me.
I really look forward to reading more in the next volume

I finally started Ms Marvel and oh how brilliant she is. I knew I was going to like it when it opens with her sniffing bacon sandwiches (because obviously she can't eat them). As well as her gaining powers (she wishes to be like Captain Marvel) the comic looks at what it's like to be young Muslim woman growing up in America, with its clash of cultures.
It also pokes fun at superhero tropes. I'm not the biggest fan of superhero comics but I will definitely continue reading about Kamala Khan. ...more
