I really liked this book. The layout of it and the way the story was told around the 12 months of the year, with recipes, was very clever.
I always enjoy reading books that are from other countries and have been translated into English, so I can read them.

I didn’t love this book as much as so many people seemed to. I found the story just a little too bizarre at times. And I really did not care for the ending!
Hmm...I'm not sure what to think about this one. Magical realism and I don't seem to get along because I just thought this one strange. I can't quite suspend my disbelief enough to get behind this one. While the themes of family relationships and love that can't be were good, the magical part just took them to such a weird place. And the addition of all the recipes didn't add anything for me. This book just wasn't for me.

Great read. I was mad a lot about some of the “traditions”. I really liked the writing style.
