After not finish a book in all the month of October I read this one in a day!
What is it about: The Gap of Time is a retelling of The Winter’s Tale by Shakespeare, after I read the book I found out this is part of a series of books by initiative of the editor to publish modernize reimagining of his plays, you can find out more Here.

I was really disappointed with this book. I'm not sure why I was expecting more. It was garish and grotesque, jumbled together, small characters in Shakespeare fleshed out to be agonizing caricatures. The worst one was Autolycus. He felt mangled. I think I'll still read the other ones in the Hogarth Shakespeare series, though I hope the other authors attempt to create something either entirely separate from Shakespeare or more faithful.

I liked this better than I initially thought I would. Winterson is a really talented writer, though she does get a little flowery and melodramatic with her prose at times here. Of course, since it's a cover of Shakespeare that might be the point. I have never read The Winter's Tale but this was a good introduction to it. It's clever and a quick read.
