This book was such a fun read. Told from the perspective of Bee, about her misunderstood genius mother Bernadette, it's hilarious, witty and has a feeling of dysfunction a la Arrested Development. I loved it because it was told from a perspective of a girl who loves her mother fiercely despite her quirks and the little disasters that are partly her fault and partly the fault of the crazies around her. I’m not entirely sure what I just read. Well written, but kind of weird.
At first, I wasn't a fan of the narrator's voice, but then I realized that she captured the gossipy, chick lit nature of this book. I also liked being awakened by her singing Silent Night.
I agree with the reviewer who said that we were misled by the blurb, because Bernadette disappeared 2/3rds into the book and there was no mystery as to why. ...more

DNF. Read the synopsis of the rest of the story and I'm glad I abandoned it. It annoyed me far more than it entertained me.
