Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone can be a very polarizing book. You have the people who will tout it's greatness and marvel at one book's ability to get children to read; and then you have another group of people who will do nothing but bad-mouth this book, stating that it is nothing more than a tool to teach children the art of witchcraft. OK, so I like these stories written for children. I am really susceptible to curling up on the couch with a good story for fun! It takes me back to good times as a child. Or perhaps I never got enough of good stories.

This is written clearly for children, but there is enough intrigue and character development to entertain an adult. This is a simple story of a young orphan who finds out that he has wizard parentage and goes off to wizard school. This is his first year at the boarding school and th

I just finished the illustrated edition and it was charming and lovely and amazing. I loved that the text wasn't abridged and I loved all the beautiful artwork throughout the book - from the full page spreads to the border sketches to the gorgeous character portraits.
