If Hallmark and Disney had a gay child novel, this would be it. Boring, repetitive, sickly sweet, so annoying that I could not finish it.
The plot is comprised of a cringe-worthy blackmail story, awkward email flirts and agonizing over coming out. Everything is explained about fifty times, in case you did not get it. I've really enjoyed the books I've read by Becky Albertalli and I am looking forward to reading her newest one coming out this year, Leah on the Off Beat. It was based off one of Simon's best friend in this book and she is a badass character we all got to know and love.

I have wanted a happy lgbtqa book for awhile now. This was it. Yeah there was homophobia and bullying but no one ended up dead or badly hurt. The family and friends were supportive. I loved the romance and the mystery. The letters were adorable. I related to them having met my hubby online in a video game. This was just as great as it was hyped to be. The only thing that bugged me was Leah. I didn't understand her as a character. They never really explain why she acts the way she does. She ha ...more
