I absolutely loved it. Even though I saw the movie first and knew what will happen, it still kept me at the edge of my seat. It was exciting and scientifically accurate. Mark's ingenuity is only rivalled by his humor. He is a very human hero, and it is amazing to see how his personality gets him through so many struggles where others would have thrown in the towel. The politics of NASA and the sensationalism of the press are nice details. The pace of the story is amazing - there is never a dull

I love this book, Watney is funny, relatable and by the end you are so engage in his survivable, I was in the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen.

I really wanted to like this book. Everyone was saying how great it was. It was just too much science and math and not enough human element for me. By the end I was skimming the journal chapters. I liked the humor but it wasn't enough to make up for the lack of emotional connection. ...more

This book really surprised me. I heard tons of excellent reviews about it, so I knew it was going to be good. I was a little bit hesitant due to the fact that it is science heavy (and I don't really care much for it). And yes, I was elbow deep in chemistry from the very first pages and more than half of it went right over my head. Despite all that I LOVED this book, the writing was excellent and Mark's personality made me fall in love with him.
